Tressa Thompson is an American shot putter born May 6, 1975, in Creighton, Nebraska.

CareerEdit

She was born in 1975 and is a three-time NCAA shot put champion from the University of Nebraska in the late 1990s. In the early 1990s, Thompson won several high school shot put state titles. She was awarded 2nd place in 2000 USA Indoor shot put.

Fall from graceEdit

Just before she was due to go to the 2000 Olympics in Sydney she tested positive for cocaine and methamphetamine.

RecoveryEdit

Her addictions became the focus of the A&ampE show “Intervention”, following the show they paid for a 90-day intensive in-patient therapy at Hope By The Sea, followed by a stay at a halfway house and more therapy.
