The New York Blade is a weekly lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) newspaper in New York City, New York. The Blade is a member of the National Gay Newspaper Guild, and contains news, entertainment, classified ads, and free personals for men and women.

History Edit

The New York Blade was started in 1997 as a New York edition of the Washington Blade. The original founding came under fire from gay rights advocates because of indications that Wilbur Ross would be involved with the paper.[1]

The paper, along with the Washington Blade, was acquired by Windows Media, LLC in 2001, making it part of the largest gay newspaper group in the world.[2]
