The National Association of Gay and Lesbian Democratic Clubs was founded in June 1982 and dissolved in 1987. It was succeeded by the National Stonewall Democrats, which was founded in 1999 by current congressman Barney Frank.
The National Association of Gay and Lesbian Democratic Clubs was a nationwide federation of local clubs, caucuses and organizations. Established in 1982, the national association had developed a network of 170 lesbian and gay political groups in 49 states and the District of Columbia.
