Male is the term most commonly used to refer to the assigned sex of a species that produces sperm. They are most notably identified by higher levels of testosterone, and the presence of a penis and testicles. [1] Though the presence of either of these are not reliable indicators of being a male. A human male is usually referred to as a man.

However some transgender people consider themselves male due to their gender identity. This sometimes can result in confusion and disagreement of definitions between people who support transgender people and their identities and those who do not.

Role in societyEdit

Main article: Gender roles

Typically throughout history, men have been seen as providers, who's key responsibilities to his family and society were to provide whatever is necessary (money, food, protection, et al.); whereas the woman's job typically has consisted of giving birth to and raising children. As time has progressed, however, this has gradually changed into how it is commonly seen today: where the male and female share most responsibilities, including working and raising child(ren); or it might even be seen reversed, for the woman to be working and providing for the family while the father stays home and takes care of the child(ren).
