Hypnofetishism
From LGBT Info, the free gender/sexuality resource anyone can edit.
Hypnofetishism, or erotic hypnosis, is the sexual fetish for hypnosis and similar forms of mental persuasion or mind control. Many variations exist, including dominance and submission, personality transformation, gender transformation, age play, "against my will" scenes, forced exhibitionism, and even blackmail.
Dominance and submission (D/s) is by far the most common form of hypnofetishim. D/s is a form of erotic power exchange, where one person willingly surrenders their will to another in exchange for sexual pleasure and/or an emotional bond. Hypnosis enhances the feelings of submission to the point where a sub can actually feel a dominant's control moving their body or influencing their thoughts. This creates an intense feeling of belonging and intimacy. Personality transformations are the next most common fantasy. People often fantasize about being freed from responsibilities or inhibitions and transformed into someone who can freely enjoy the sexual pleasures they imagine or read about. The transformed personality might be a slave, a bimbo, a slut, a stripper or a character from a book or movie.
In popular fiction, hypnosis and mind control often contained erotic undertones. Starting with the classic novel, Trilby, continuing through the Hammer Studio series of Dracula films, Saturday morning cartoons, and into many modern popular books and films, hypnosis is often portrayed as a method for turning someone into a loving, devoted and/or obedient slave. Although cartoons contained little (if any) sexual references, vampire movies often contained overt sexual themes. Many people who grew up watching these shows subconsciously recognized the sexual undertones of the control aspect and later developed an interest in exploring erotic hypnosis more directly.

[edit] History
Hypnofetishism has a long history, stretching as far back as the ancient world. Western culture (and many others around the globe) is filled with early myths of seduction by some form of mind control: the Sirens of the Greeks and the witches of the Middle Ages both had a hypnotic aspect in their sexuality.
In medieval legend, an incubus (plural incubi; from Latin incubare, "to lie upon") is a demon in male form supposed to lie upon sleepers, especially on women in order to have sexual intercourse with them.
In medieval legend, a succubus (plural succubi; from Latin succubare, "to lie under") is a female demon which comes to men, especially monks, in their dreams to seduce them and have sexual intercourse, drawing energy from the men to sustain themselves, often until the point of exhaustion or death. This legend was an explanation for the phenomena of wet dreams and sleep paralysis. From mythology and fantasy, Lilith and the Lilin (Jewish), Lilitu (Sumerian) and Rusalka (Slavic) were succubi.
[edit] Other Aspects of Erotic Hypnosis
People have found numerous ways to employ hypnosis erotically, including, but not limited to:
- reducing inhibitions and increasing arousal
- obedience training
- conditioning erotic responses
- making people more open to new sexual activities
- erotic hallucinations
- enhancing roleplay
Reducing inhibitions and increasing arousal are the most common goals of erotic hypnosis. Both men and women can sometimes think too much or focus on past bad experiences. This inhibits their ability to enjoy the present sexual activity and become aroused. Hypnosis can help someone forget the past and focus on their arousal and responses, increasing arousal and enabling the experience of more pleasure. Conditioned responses include instant arousal on command (instant erections in men or instantly making a woman wet), orgasming on command (and / or only on command), forced chastity in women and impotence in men, being immobilized on command, being aroused by the sight of a person or an object, and being aroused at the sound of a person's voice. Erotic hallucinations may be as simple as feeling a caress when not being touched, or as elaborate as visualizing an entire scene. Sexual roleplay can be greatly enhanced through the use of hypnosis, allowing partners to actually inhabit their characters, to the point of temporarily forgetting their "real" identities and completely believing themselves to be that character.
[edit] Online Community
The internet provided a forum for hypnofetishists, previously isolated from one another, to meet, interact and share resources. Several web sites now include hypnosis related stories, image manipulations, discussion groups.
