Gerontophilia refers to the sexual preference for the elderly. The word is originated from Greek: Geron, which means "old man" and philie, which means "love".
Specialized terms are alphamegamia for the attraction to an older man and anililagnia for the attraction to an older woman.
In culture Edit
Gerontophilia refers to those attracted to someone at least a generation older, not necessarily elderly. In relative terms, large age gap relationships are perhaps most common between men. Specialist homosexual websites for 'elderly men and their admirers' are commonplace on the internet and attract huge numbers. Some, you have to pay for membership, others are free.
